FIRST OF FIRST

Today was day one of grade one for
Miss King.
She didn't want her picture taken, but
she reluctantly complied a few times.

Her teacher's name is Mrs. Grever.

Ava has an assigned seat and shares a
table with two kids that were also in Mrs.
Kelly's kindergarten class, Abby and
Tristan, along with a new friend named
Nathan.

Mrs. Grever has the same poetry books by
Shel Silverstein on her bookshelf that we
read over the summer at bedtime. That
seemed to score some points with Ava.
At the end of the day, Ava gave Mrs. Grever
and her first day in first grade two thumbs up!

FEARLESS

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?
Yet not one of them will fall to the ground
apart from the will of your Father.
And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
So don't be afraid;
you are worth more than many sparrows.
~ Matthew 10:29-31

I've lived through a handful of soul rending experiences.
In a relatively short period of time I was fired, suffered a miscarriage, and most devastating, lost my baby sister to suicide.

It is easy for me now to fall into a "waiting for the other shoe to drop" frame of mind.

By far, my greatest fear is that a predator might take my child.
Nice thought, huh?
To not know who has your baby and to only imagine what base treatment such a monster could be subjecting your child to, would be hell on earth.

Evil is real.

God's promises are salve to my mind and my soul.

NO IMAGES, JUST IMAGERY

The laptop issues have still not been addressed, so the pictures continue to remain unposted...sigh...

Miss King has become quite the bike riding enthusiast and she has the bumps, bruises and scrapes to show for it. She gets reminded every few minutes to "look where (she is) going!"

Isabella, our new neighbor/Ava's new best friend (a category with at least five members at any given moment,) has not been home for the past few days and Ava is not happy about it. Every three minutes or so she says she misses Bella. Come home, Bella! There will be unrest at the King household until you return to play dress up, capture innocent bugs, frogs and lizards, ride scooters and eat popscicles on these long, warm summer nights...

Last time we went to the lake, Ava learned to do summersaults in the water. When she popped up after her first successful revolution, her eyes were THIS BIG! Sure wish there had been a camera handy to capture that priceless expression...

TRANSCENDANT PEACE

*
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear
though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though it's waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
