Surprise!

Ava & mom ventured downtown on light rail to surprise dad at work.
This was Ava's first "train" ride. She didn't care for it much, thank heaven!
We hope to take Amtrak to San Francisco, so she will know the difference soon.

Ava "Roller Derby" King

Ava goes roller skating with her daycamp once a week and stays on the carpet because she doesn't have fun on the "slippery floor." I wanted to show her that she can venture onto the rink, she just needs a little practice. So off we went to Roller King.

Holy Cooties!
The decor, the stench and the germs are all circa 1979. If I never step foot in that roller rink again it will be too soon. I imagine X-rated theaters are less oogey. My baby was falling, scooting and crawling around on that carpet without a care in the world. Witnessing it took no less than 5 years off my life.

This is Miss King on the slippery floor. She had some pretty good wipeouts (including the splits and giant circular arm waving jags), but overall she did really well. (Sorry for the poor video quality - its from my cell.)
